Hosa FSC Description:

Hosa FSC-501 Latching switch Push-on, push again for off. Great for guitar amp channel switching, on/off for reverbs and echo units, etc. (shown above)

Hosa FSC-502 Momentary, Normally Open. A great sustain pedal or patch-advance switch for electronic keyboards and synthesizers. Also great as a punch-in/out switch for multi-track recorders such as those made by Fostex and Tascam. (no shown, but looks identical to FSC-501 pictured above)

Hosa FSC-503 Momentary, Normally Closed Some manufacturers of keyboards and recording gear, such as Roland and Yamaha, set their keyboards to sustain and/or switch patches (and set their recorders to punch-in and out), when the foot switch BREAKS (rather than MAKES) a connection. So, for gear made by Roland and Yamaha, or any other manufacturer that specifies a momentary, normally closed switch, Hosa's FSC-503 is the right one to choose. (no shown, but looks identical to FSC-501 pictured above)
